About NeedsNoIntro
Quick, witty primers for the three-minutes-before-you-need-to-know-something crowd.
Why this exists
NeedsNoIntro started from a familiar problem: you're about to walk into a conversation, a watch party, or a meeting about something you know almost nothing about, and you need just enough to follow along, not a textbook chapter. Wikipedia is thorough but dense. A five-minute video is fine until you need to skim back to one fact. NeedsNoIntro is built to be the thing you pull up three minutes before you need it: a hook, the 60-second version, and a longer version if you want to go deeper.
Who's behind it
NeedsNoIntro is written and published by Greg Goodwin. It's a solo, independent project — there's no newsroom or editorial board behind it, just one person building out a reference site one subject at a time.
How a subject gets made
Every subject on this site is drafted with the help of AI, researching and writing a first pass of the cheat sheet, the 60-second version, the longer treatment, and the references. From there, every page is reviewed, fact-checked, and edited by Greg before it ever goes live — nothing is published unread. If something looks off, outdated, or just wrong, the fastest way to flag it is the contact page — corrections get made directly to the page, not buried in a queue.
What's next
The site is still growing — new subjects get added regularly, existing ones get revisited and corrected, and the taxonomy keeps expanding as new categories fill in. The goal is a few thousand subjects deep, covering everything from ancient empires to how search engines work, built gradually rather than dumped all at once.
